Beyonce Knowles Superstar

Beyonce Giselle Knowles was born in Houston, Texas, on the Fourth of September 1981. Beyonce showed her talent at singing before the age of seven years old. At the age of seven, Beyonce began attending dancing school and had joined her church choir, in which she was a soloist.

By her teen years, any spare time Beyonce had was spent with her childhood friends, LaTayia Roberson, Kelly Rowland and LeToya Luckett, performing at local functions. Named “Girl’s Tyme” during this period of their career, the group even appeared on Ed McMahon’s Star Search but they did not make it into the qualifying round. During this early period, Beyonce’s father left his steady job to devote all his time and energy to managing and promoting the band. Even today her father, Matthew Knowles, manages Beyonce’s career.

After trying out a few different band names, the girls settledon the name Destiny’s Child. Their musical breakthrough came when their song “Killing Time”was included in the soundtrack for the movie “Men In Black” in 1997.. In 1998 the group achieved a number one single with “No, No, No Part 2″. The group became a trio later on that same year with the departure of LeToya and LaTayia, who decided to pursue individual careers.Destiny’s Child shrank that same year when LeToya left the group to pursue a solo career. The group went on though to achieve greater success with 2000 seeing four Hot 100 Number One singles on the Billboard charts and two albums that each reached number one.

The group’s second album continued with great success with tracks like “Say My Name,” “Jumpin’ Jumpin’” and the very successful “Bug A Boo.” The single “Say My Name” received two Grammy awards in 2001. After that album, Destiny’s Child produced another album, “Survivor”, which included hits like the title track and the single “Bootylicious”. After becoming one of the best selling female groups in musical history, Destiny’s Child broke up in 2005.

Prior to that time though, Beyonce had already clearly shown her talens and abilities as a vocalist and as a songwriter. She received a number of awards and honors, including the 2001 Songwriter of the Year award from the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers. Beyonce was the first African-American female to receive the award and only the second female to win it. Beyonce also spent some time working on solo projects which at first were not as successful as her projects with the trio, but she was not easily discouraged.

The release of her first solo album, “Dangerously In Love”, saw Beyonce return to her success with the album reaching the top selling album with over 300,000 copies sold in the first week alone.. The album’s initial single “Crazy In Love” reached the top of the charts immediately as well and remained there for 8 weeks. Later that year Beyonce’s album and single topped the charts at the same time putting her on the same level as such artists as The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, and Rod Stewart. She is the only female recording artist to achieve this feat.

The next year, 2004, Beyonce won five Grammy Awards for her debut album.

In correspondence with her 25th birthday, she released a second album called “B’day,” which sold more than her first solo album, with 541,000 copies sold in the first week afterrelease. B’Day’s first singl went on to also reach number one on the US R&B charts.

Beyonce’s third album, “I Am…Sasha Fierce”, introduced fans to her alter ego and also went on to post impressive sales figures.

Beyonce’s talent has shown no end in sight and her fans are looking forward to see what is yet to come.

The 2012 Government Conspiracy Theories

Theories about the “end of the world” or things like that have been found all over for centuries, though these days the interenet tends to spread them even more. The latest version that has become quite popular is that the world will end on December 21, 2012. Much of this is based on the last date of the Mayan calendar, which is December 21, 2012.Also, the ancient philoshopher Nostradamus predicted disaster around this date as did many cultures also participated in this belief.

Throughout time, many have speculated on the end of the world, when it will occur and what it will be like. They base this on one of Nostradamus’ prophecies regarding a planet that will approach the earth and could alter the earth’s gravitational pull and knock the earth off its axis. Such an event would also rip the planet’s crust apart, leading to other disasters that would kill almost everyone on the planet. Only a few would survive such an event, and those who did survive are believed to have been selected by the government which is actively protecting their lives.

This topic – those who would survive – has led to many questions. And out of this have risen several other conspiracy theories. A theory that has gained belief with many is that the government has established a list of the few thousand who will be saved, and that they will preserve the future of mankind. This theory supposes that the list of survivors will include those in power in government and corporations, those who can bear children and are healthy, and those who can maintain and continue to develop technology.
The selected few will be housed in underground bunkers, where supplies such as food and water have been stockpiled to supplythem for at least several years. These bunkers will provide shelter and the necessities to all of those who reside in them for years.

As well as the necessities of food and water in the bunkers, they will also have items such as seeds for growing their own produce over the years. The combination of food and water ready for immediate consumption with seeds to grow future produce will sustain many families for years after. Some people estimate that it would be years before the soil is able to sustain life, if it ever returns to that state.

Theories such as this seem very difficult to understand. Some ask if the government is trying to keep the masses calm while others are speculating about the catastrophes ahead. If this theory is accurate, we wonder who the people who are on the list will be.

No actual scientific evidence can be offered that these events will occur, and it is important to acknowledge that there are many things that could threaten to harm our species and our planet well ahead of the year 2012. Events like an asteroid hitting our planet, a major flu outbreak, a nuclear or biochemical conflict all threaten our species. Nothing is predictable in life, only daily preparedness for everything.
